All about the single life in Seattle

It’s a little ‘Sex and the City’ and a lot of ‘Curb Your Enthusiasm’

Independence Day

July 5th, 2009 · 1 Comment · Boys, Girl time

Just got Stylicious back to the airport.  She really had a 4th of July to remember!  It was a quick visit so we had to fit a lot in a short time.  We got up around 7:30am on Saturday (after going to bed at 3am) and walked from the Space Needle to the stadiums and back.  We had breakfast at Etta’s (the brioche french toast with vanilla mascarpone was yum) and walked all through the market.  We took tons of pictures and bought some treats from Piroshky Piroshky (for me…did live up to the hype) and Beecher’s World’s Best Mac & Cheese (yum!).  Apparently our mindset was calories don’t count on a holiday?

We went back to my place and Stylicious cut, highlighted, and colored my hair.  It’s a process so that had us out of commission for a few hours but that was why I bought her plane ticket up to Seattle so it had to be done.  We surfed around online for something to do.  We had been invited to a private party at the Columbia Tower (which was what I was leaning toward) and another party over in the Kirkland area, which I knew would most likely include a boat ride over to Medina.  Ask an out of town girl if she wants a building (that I love…great view, exclusive party, downtown) or a chance to go to Bill Gates’ neighborhood (not his house…his neighborhood)….guess where we went?

jessica-simpson-flag-bikiniWe headed over to Kirkland Hef’s so we could see some fireworks and someone from my hometown could see the Eastside.  It took her about 10 minutes to agree the Eastside is our hometown all over again.  Hilarious!  There was no shortage of tiny bikinis over at KH’s.  Of course we wore clothing but KH informed everyone I like to get naked.  “Ohhhh AWESOME, me toooo” a little Jessica Simpson look-alike says (LOL, I found this pic!).  Oh no, I will not be getting naked next to this girl.  I think she could be all of 22, if that and her body is flawless.  There are a few older men at this party but it is mostly women and S and I are the oldest.  I wonder….is it too late to hit the Columbia Tower??  Maybe I had a panicked look…maybe God threw me a bone but suddenly one of KH’s buddies, the guy whose house we went to at the end of Memorial Day weekend came over to give me a hug hello.  We chatted for a minute and he said he had to leave.  I was disappointed until he asked, “do you and your girlfriend want to head over to the house or are you going to stay over here with KH and the kindercare crew?”.  Oh thank you Lord!!

We walk out to his Bentley and he drives us to his house.  There is a good size crowd but not the playboy group at the last place…I am feeling much more comfortable.  Bentley is a great host!  I have only met him once before and he acts like we are old friends.  Is he just a nice man or is he attracted to me?  I feel something between us.  He is married and I can’t go into too many details except to say I like him.  Marriage is not perfect and it’s never my intention to cause drama in one.

S makes some great connections.  The women love her because she knows her stuff.  It’s like a Dr walking in the room and everyone suddenly wanted to discuss their aches and pains.  These wives have everything; nose jobs, boobs, botox, bleached hair, spray on tans, etc.  One of the husbands also wants a consultation with S but he wants to give her a tour of the house and consult upstairs.

….Was it akward to anyone else that he was totally flirting with my friend right in front of his wife?  …I seem to be the only one that noticed.

We have plenty of food and wine and fun.  Bentley is real cutie and a major business daddy!  Since I have to drive back over the bridge I make the switch to water but S is really enjoying herself.  It’s her last night in town so I have to smile when I see what a good time she is having.  I ask her later if she wants me to text bartender and she tells me she is going to get all she needs right here.  Interesting…

It seems the wife of Style’s new buddy tends to get a raging headache with alcohol and usually has to go lie down for awhile.  This is no surprise to anyone, especially the husband ready to devour Stylicious.  I’ll save the kiss and tell…especially since it wasn’t my kiss…but they disappeared for awhile too.  When she came back outside and I said we had to head home.  She had a big grin.  I’m glad she had a great time while visiting Seattle.

I hope everyone had a safe holiday!  It was a bummer that Seattle was so limited on the fireworks shows due to the economy…yikes.

One final thought that must be said because I made no mention on Memorial Day and regretted it a bit later.  I have a family member that just returned from Iraq -  I know I don’t usually mention family but I want to say thank you to all that serve in our military; I appreciate you.  I honor the life and sacrifice of our military and wish to also express my appreciation to the family members and give comfort and solace to those who have given the ultimate sacrifice for our country.  A very sincere thank you!

Love you, mean it!
