All about the single life in Seattle

It’s a little ‘Sex and the City’ and a lot of ‘Curb Your Enthusiasm’

Weekend Update

May 18th, 2009 · 1 Comment · Boys, Girl time, happy hour

Sunday night and I’ve just finished watching the Desperate Housewives season finale.  Now that Nicollette Sheridan is out I think I can finally quit watching.  Lynette, pregnant with twins?  Mike, marrying……?  Blah!  The only potentially good story was the little hooker living with Gabby and cat fights get old quick.  This review brought to you by Vodka….. : )  Kidding, I’m sober!

We had a beautiful weekend in Seattle!  I hear it was 103 degrees in Sacramento which I is just slightly cooler than the temperature in HELL!  Friday night the girls and I played in downtown Seattle and eventually all stayed over at LBC’s house so we could get up early and hike Mount Si.   Last time I did the hike it was with a hard core group training to hike the Grand Canyon.  This time we brought a bottle of wine and our cameras and took our time and enjoyed the day.  It was great to get some exercise, enjoy the beautiful scenery, and finally (gasp, finally!) get to the top and enjoy some snacks and wine with the girls.  I had a really great time!

After the hike I had to head home to shower because I had a couple coming to visit me and she is a very dear family friend.  Her and her new husband were meeting some friends down at Tini Bigs for cocktails at 6pm.  I got myself (and my place) ready and headed down 1st Avenue.  As I was walking I saw a familiar cutie from my birthday two years ago.  He was wearing a Pittsburgh Steelers t-shirt which is actually why I recognized him.  We met at the Spitfire Sports Bar on 4th.  My birthday fell on a Sunday that year and I am a huge NFL fan so it was an easy decision where I wanted to spend my 36th.  The Seahawks were playing the Steelers and that week I had picked the Steelers to win.  Here I was in downtown Seattle with (what felt like) the entire bar screaming for the Hawks except for one tall, hot, brunette with a sexy smile and a terrible towel.  We ended up drinking waaay too many shots (of every kind of alcohol), smoking pot right outside (hell, it was my birthday) and we planned to go back to my place for crazy birthday sex.  He made a trip to the bathroom before we left for my house…..and never returned.  I finally barged in the mens room looking for him (yeah, somehow when you’re drunk and wanting to get laid that seems appropriate).  I found him alright.  He was sitting on the toilet with puke everywhere.  I noticed that, although his pants were around his ankles, he managed to shit those pants before he pulled them down.  Yes, I had to climb over the wall of the stall next to him to see this….which got me kicked out of the Spitfire but I guess at that point I wasn’t getting laid that night anyway.

This moment quickly flashed in my mind (and I’m sure his) as we stood there on the street.  I asked him if he wanted to grab a quick drink but he said he had to get to work; he’s now working the door at a bar down the street (hmmm, I’ll decide if I can reveal the name at a later date).  Ok, I headed down to Tini Bigs.

I met the group and we had a great time.  It was three couples and single me but I still had so much fun.  One of the couples was getting married after dating for twelve years.  Wowzers!!  After a few hours two of the couples decided to take off.  Since my friends were staying downtown I decided to get them nice and drunk and ordered one more round for the road.  Ugh!  Big mistake.  We ended up discussing my relationship with the Mr and why I am not married for what felt like h o u r s!!!  Painful.  You know how drunk people always want to give advice?!  I got them down to Belltown Pizza for a slice before bed.  Food sometimes brings on sobriety which I thought might slow the lecturing.  Not so much.

Sunday morning I took my guests out to breakfast at CJ’s (no website…weird huh…they’re so popular they don’t need it).  Thankfully they were both very apologetic for the drunk lecture.  Hell, she’s known my family since long before my birth so I think a little concern is allowed.  However, I got them packed up and on the road by 10am!!

LBC, OOT and I spent that day playing tourist.  We went down to Alki beach for people watching and over to Kerry Park.  It’s not really a “park” but it does have a tiny little patch of grass and the absolute best view of Seattle!!  We ended the afternoon with Happy Hour at Six Seven, inside the Edgewater Hotel.

I headed home after HH.  I got a call from one of the front runners I was interested in on Friday night.  I’m still not so sure about where this one is going but we may get together tomorrow.  We’ll see.
