Last night I had a friend pick me up at the airport. She’s a long time family friend; actually my little sisters best friend. She’s a student at UW and I had asked her to stay with my cat and then she was able to stay right in the city ALONE (you know when you’re in college you can never afford to live alone). I’ll call her “Fortune Cookie” because she is a yummy little Asian girl (calm down I’m not a racist – I think it’s cute). FC is a lot of fun and cute on the inside and out. In exchange for picking me up I insist that we go to happy hour! She’s 23, it didn’t take much arm twisting. We started by going to Cellars on 1st Avenue. We were dangerously close to 6pm already and I know the owner there so I’ll get happy hour pricing anytime. We chit chat with two guys at the bar and while I think we have a great connection there were no phone numbers exchanged and I wasn’t too interested in either. At 9pm they play music and I have mentioned before - I’m not a fan when it gets loud. We decide to move on to Purple on 4th. Fantastic wine bar! We sit at the bar and have a few wine flights. I just love wine flights!! We meet some cute guys that are in town on business travel. I do notice that they have rings on but they seem very fun. They want to go across the street to the bar at W hotel because that is where they are staying. Ok, cute, fun, W hotel, business daddy with expense account? Just how much convincing do you think I needed to make the trip? We finish our flights and head over. We all end up sitting in the lounge in those big comfortable chairs with a table around us. FC and I go with a pear vodka press(a yummy drink that limits the hangover factor since there is little sugar involved…you do know that the sugar in the mix is part is what gives you the hangover….no charge for that info). These two guys are professional drivers and they are in town to shoot a Cadillac commercial. Both are married but one discusses his good ‘friend’ he has until it’s obvious she’s his side order (mistress). Interesting. She has a free apartment (imagine that!). They met on a flight him and wifey were on and she was the flight attendant working first class. They missed their connection and she really made some extra effort to track him down and get their luggage to them…mmm hmmm….little bitch just knew a potential daddy when she saw one. Smart little girl! Note to all the wifeys…be careful of attractive woman that ‘go the extra mile’.
One drink becomes several. One of the guys decides he’s got to go to bed but the other ones asks if we want to come to his room because they’ve already had last call and we are welcome to his mini bar. It just keeps getting better, doesn’t it?! He’s got a wife AND a side order so while you might think he’s a real player…I don’t know if he has the energy. I think he just doesn’t want to be alone. During our time together it’s clear that he’s very much a business daddy. Too bad his plate is full. He has a great watch on that I decide to wear, teasing him that I’m going to steal it. FC and I really go at the mini bar with some gusto. Well the truth is, we’re hammered. For some reason we thought it would be a good idea to get undressed and put robes on and jump on the bed. Alcohol…killing brain cells one sip at a time.
Eventually FC says she needs food and sleep. Business daddy is already in bed; its getting late. We pack up and head out. No phone numbers exchanged, no information. Whats weird is I almost always get a business card. We cab back to my place and as I’m getting undressed I look at my wrist and see it….I’m now officially a theif. It’s not a Rolex so I had assumed it’s just his everyday watch…possibly value in my mind is something like $200? I google it and find out it’s a Tag Monza and the value is about $1800. Wow! I feel like a sh*t now. I call the W and speak to a manager there but they can’t give me information on their guests. I leave my information and now we’ll see if someone there wants to ‘go the extra mile’. In the meantime, I’ve got a new expensive watch. Sweet!!
Yes, I’m clear that I’m going to hello.

Well, that explains my hangover! Usually I stick to Jack and Diet, but I guess it was the real sugar in my Juleps that got me to where I am this morning. Thanks for the education! You are a genuine altruist!
